SEO stands for "Search Engine Optimization".Search Engine Optimization is a vast evolving field of digital marketing. It is a practice of increasing the quality and quantity of websites through organic search results.




How Google discover new content?


Google uses several ways to discover new content on the web such as Crawling, Catching and Indexing. 
  • Crawling is where Google follows or scan a link on the Pages. To do this, a computer program called spider is used. A webmaster is a custodian to controls the particular website. A webmaster makes the website crawlable. 
  • Catching Google takes a snapshot of the website when it visits it and stores the data. 
  • Indexing is Google adding or save the web page to the database.

The O part of SEO -Optimization- which can be done in two ways.
                                      Onpage optimization and Offpage Optimization

In Onpage Optimization, modifications are done within the website in order to improve the position in search rankings. In the case of Off-page optimization, the modifications are done outside of the actual website in order to improve the position in search rankings.

SEO can be generally practiced in two ways such as Black hat SEO and White hat SEO.

Google is alert to provide quality searching details on the website. During the flourish of the internet, a number of websites are added which is not having quality and quantity as expected. In the history and evolution of Google, it made a number of modifications to improve the quality of a website. So, let's unfold the history behind the ranking.

Initially, most of all websites are content-specific in nature. It does not give quality as expected. 
so, Google changed the algorithm and made it link specific which needs a link from another website for ranking. A link works as a recommendation. But the website quality is again reduced.
To give quality search results for the user, Google introduced PageRank. It ranks a website out of ten depends on factors such as the age of the website, organic visit, time the user spends on it, links and recommendations. PageRank was a major breakthrough in ranking a website.

In 2005, no-follow link attributes were introduced.Rel=" nofollow" is an instruction to search engines to not influence the ranking of the link's target in the search engine index. This technology helped to improve search engine results and control the equity passing from one website to another. 
In 2009, the ranking was based on user interaction. Gmail is extensively used to control apps and sites. To make Google as a personal assistant Google suggests it is introduced. 
In 2010, ranking depends on social media signals. It refers to the website's overall share, likes, and visibility as perceived by search engines.
